I'm Caroline, a PhD student in Philosophy at the Ruhr University Bochum. Supervised by Tobias Schlicht, I’m currently taking a closer look at coupling – analysing how organisms are coupled to their environment and in how far this involves or facilitates certain cognitive phenomena.
My main research interests are in Philosophy of Mind, especially regarding cognition and agency. Going back and forth between basic and more complex instances thereof can help uncover underlying principles – demystifying cognitive and agential phenomena. I enjoy discussing related ideas each month in the international reading group on “Basic Principles of Cognition” I’ve initiated in 2021.
I’m also interested in Philosophy of Biology, Philosophy of Psychiatry, and ethical implications of new findings.
Overall, I work empirically informed, aiming at interdisciplinary research.
